We are a team of experienced and committed dental professionals with a particular interest in the management of anxious patients.
Calum Macpherson (GDC no. 61107) qualified from Edinburgh University in 1986. Since qualifying, Calum has been in general practice at St Michael’s Dental Surgery where he has developed a practice with a reputation for successfully working with dentally anxious patients. A major milestone was achieved in 2009 when the practice relocated to a brand new, striking, 21st century premises.
Calum has also been closely involved in the teaching of dental sedation to dental students, newly qualified dentists and dental nurses. He has also worked part-time at the sedation unit in Cardiff Dental Hospital and at the Oral Surgery Dept, Royal United Hospital, Bath.
Bjorn Heisler (GDC no. 81525) graduated from Erlangen-Nurnberg University, Germany in 1997, and joined the practice in 2005. Bjorn initially joined a research group dealing with the causes of gum disease, and obtained a doctorate in periodontology in 2001. He has a particular interest in endodontics (root canal therapy), periodontics and advanced restorative treatment.
Lucy Marsden (GDC no. 112783) qualified from the University of Bristol in 2007. Lucy joined the practice in 2010 and also has a particular interest in treating patients who are anxious about dental treatment. Lucy completed a Bristol University Dental Anxiety and Sedation Course in 2009, and she divides her working week between general dental practice here, and at Bristol Dental Hospital treating dentally anxious patients.
Debbie Armitage (GDC no. 6609), our dental hygienist, joined the practice in 2005, after qualifying in Bristol. Debbie plays a pivotal role in improving and maintaining dental health for patients, using a combination of preventive measures and patient focused education.
